Colorado Medicaid Guidance (Example)

Yes. COFA citizens can apply for Medicaid in Colorado by any standard method and are treated as qualified non‑citizens without a five‑year waiting period.

Colorado updated eligibility rules and its benefits system to include all COFA individuals as qualified non‑citizens effective December 27, 2020.

No special workaround is required. Applicants report non‑citizen status; electronic interfaces verify status or grant a 90‑day reasonable opportunity period for verification.

Yes. All applicants receive an official eligibility determination notice that explains appeal rights and next steps if they disagree with a decision.
